Anyone heard anything about "Alert Me" home security?
Had a leaflet in a magazine about this system and on paper it looks really good, especially for £399
Just wondering if anyone had heard anything about the system, pro's and con's etc?
Cheers

Not a bad system. The only thing that puts me off is the lack of cameras. Systems like myhome247 & Control4 are probably more interesting.
What did you want to use the system for?

Just for general security, although the idea of a camera is appealing! Do you have any knowledge of the other 2?
Cheers

Re: Anyone heard anything about "Alert Me" home security?
I bought my kit from myhome and it's worked great for me. They're a tiny company but tech support is great, none of this faceless call centre malarki you tend to get nowadays.

Re: Anyone heard anything about "Alert Me" home security?
2nd vote for myhome, purely due to the video streaming java app downloaded on my blackberry, i'd rather see for myself whats actually going on than just getting a text - had far too many false alarms with my old system, bit of wind used to set off the pir's and it looks like alertme have no failsafe for this.
There're cheaper too even with a panasonic ip camera.

Re: Anyone heard anything about "Alert Me" home security?
Saw the Alert me on Gadget Show and thought great, will have to consider this. But they failed to mention there is a monthly service fee.
What about myhome? Can't see anything for a purchase price and monthly fee. Is this true?
Just found pricing info.

Re: Anyone heard anything about "Alert Me" home security?
I found out that Alertme charge £11.75.
With regard to the myhome kit, they used to charge for the basic account but are now offering that for free. You'll get 5mb of storage to save stuff online and be able to views cams etc.
I have a lot of cameras so don't mind paying for the extra storage and I go away for long periods of time ( No xbox drives me crazy!) but for a basic kit it's good to know that you don't have to pay a monthly charge.
I Got an e-mail from ebuyer the other day and they're offering the free basic account and it's cheaper (£199) but includes a different camera to the one I have (BLC1).
Have a look for it - search ebuyer for myhome247.

Re: Anyone heard anything about "Alert Me" home security?
But the myhomestuff for 200 quid doesn't include nearly the same number of sensors etc. as AlertMe. SOmeone who has an AlertMe system that I know says they're bringing out a pay as you go (pay per sms or similar) system soon.
But for me the myhome system is uuuuugly...

I had a look over at 'Alert Me' and they have small forum. They seem to be very good at responding to owners posts or potential customers. Seem to have happy customers too.
I ordered mine today.

uuuuugly...?
Each to their own (xbox vs playstation / PC vs Mac vs Linux anybody?) but seriously - If I wanted something aesthetically pleasing, I would buy a work of art, not a home security system :-)
I do like the idea of the Alertme system but the major thing that puts me off was the lack of cameras and the narrow range of devices. I know that the basic myhome starter kit comes with just a small amount of devices but i'd rather have that and then build my own system based upon my own requirements.... Plus you forget that the myhome system is about 200 quid cheaper than alertme!
I do like your idea of the pay as you go system. Gonna phone myhome247 today and see if they can offer me something similar.

So does nobody think along the same line as myself that AlertMe is really expensive for what it does then?

Re: Anyone heard anything about "Alert Me" home security?
Ive just been searching for a home security system and as far as i can tell the Alert Me seems like a good option.
OK its £11.75 a month, but most systems charge per month.
The MyHome247 starter is free, but you only get a small amount of sensors for your £250 and i would like at least 3 window sensors.
All in all i think the Alert Me is a great option, and especially if it comes Pay-as-You-Go ..... id snap opne up now if they did that and im not moving for 6 weeks !!!

Re: Anyone heard anything about "Alert Me" home security?
Don't know how much the alert me sensors are as you can't get into their shop unless you spend £400 first which seems really odd to me?!
but myhome window sensors are £12.99 i think, plus interestingly.... and i don't know if many people know this but.........
I just found out from my local pc world friend that the old motorola homesight sensors work with this new system and they float around on ebay really cheap So i think if you wanted to pimp your system up then it ain't gonna cost much. Cept of course for the extra monthly fee, but that's £2 under alert me.
wish one of these companies would do an outdoor cam though, that's what i really want......

According to the forum software both you and SuperG1135 are posting from the same computer and as you are "both" promoting myhome like mad I wonder if there is anything that you wish to declare.
Incidentally as most of SuperG1135's other posts are promoting the same company I am assuming that you are connected with it so have deleted posts in any other thread that mentions the company leaving just this one intact so that readers can make their own minds up

BRILLIANT ..... BUSTED
I have looked into this and there is 10% off until 21st May, meaning i really want one now, but seeing as i dont move for another few weeks, means its difficult to justify spendingthe dosh now. Plus i woudl need to buy at least another 3 door sensors for garage, shed etc and another movement sensor, which would add up to over £100.
Has anyone actually got it installed and how well does it work ??
