Most reviews seem to concentrate a lot on the 'features' a TV has, how it copes with various types of input signal and how it scales them plus its audio output - very little of that actually matters to me.

I've got a system with a Lumagen scaler that will feed the TV over HDMI so I need something that will 1:1 pixel map - all sources will be connected to the Lumagen so the TV will only have one HDMI connected.

1080p/24 over HDMI is a must, as I'll use passthrough to feed Bluray output straight to the screen.

All audio goes through the AV system so i don't care what the speakers are like.

I have a projector too, so a 40" will probably be fine (but given how prices have dropped on the 46" I might be tempted...)

Suggestions?

Hmmm, not much input on this then.

Does anyone else run an LCD like this, purely as a display panel?

I was really wondering whether the image ghosting that is mentioned on reviews of some of the Sony LCDs is a problem with the onboard processing or the panel itself.

Also whether the top of the range X series offers any benefit at all if I'm using an external scaler? The W series doesn't have the latest Bravia engine and seems to be missing 100Hz but is a fair bit cheaper than the X series...

I think the 100Hz means that it will display 1080p/24 properly (I guess it also works at 120Hz), so if "1080p/24 is a must" then the W would not be for you. You would need the X.

For me, 100Hz is a must. I may well get the 46" X. You could just get the 40" X instead of the 46" W.

100Hz refresh processing is nothing to do with whether it accepts a 1080p/24hz input as such.

96hz refresh would be of more interest as its an exact multiple and would mean no cadence issues!!
