Hi

I am looking to buy a new HDTV, mainly for use with a PS3, watching freeview/sky(SDtv) and Blu ray in the future. I have a budget of around £400-£450, looking for a 32'' for my bedroom.

I have seen the following TVs at dixons that look quite good just wondering if any one has owns any of these or has any advice on which one to get? Any help would be much appreciated.:)

LG 32LC46,TOSHIBA 32AV505D, Samsung LE32R88BD or Philips 32PFL5522

Thanks very much.

I have the Samsung LE37R88BD, and I think its perfect for your needs. Great tv, and great value for money. Highly recommended.

Thanks for response, after reading alot of reviews and other threads im probably going to go with a samsung. With the Samsung LE37R88BD do you know what type of panel you would get? Just asking because i've read through other threads regarding the panel lottery issue on the 32'' which puts me off that model a little.

Thanks

All the panels now are very similar. But with the Samsung LE37R88BD, you will definitaley get the "A" panel. They are the only 37" manufacturers for the R8 in this size.

Very similar tv, only difference is that it is 1080p rather than 720p.

Very overpriced IMO, not worth the price premium over the R88, and at 37"es, your hard pressed to notice any difference between 1080p and 720p.

My Samsung gives a time delay between internal speakers and external sound outputs of about 300 mS which sounds like an echo and shows as a lack of synch with the picture.
Hopeless if you want to use another sound system. Local Samsung repair agents had it and told me they changed the whole board but its still the same - either its a design fault or the agents have done nothing or both - watch out

Hi Lord Croxton, Thanks for your post, out of interest what model samsung do you have? or is this the case with all models? At the minute after looking at alot of different models I am thinking of going for the 32'' M series samsung (100hz over 50hz, supposedly better for gaming?) or the Samsung 37" LE37R87BDX(Not the M series due to Yemeths advice and the pricetag). To be honest i need to measure up my bedroom to see if 37'' is going to fit, or i'l have to wall mount it which i dont really want to do. Any response would be great. Thanks again

Yeah i saw this when i went into my local currys, they said it was basically the new model of the Samsung LE32R88BD, Do you know if 100hz makes a big difference? Thanks

The M86 has no relation to the R88. The M8 is a complete different range from Samsung. IMO disregard the 32" M8, its not worth it, especially because you cant turn off 100Hz IIRC in that model.

100Hz in that tv specifically introduces motion interpolation artifacts which while it slightly improves motion, it causes anomalies to show up on fast moving images. Not worth it unless its one of the big models e.g. the Sony X series.

I have the Samsung too and love it - great picture both in SD and HD. Agree with Lord Croxton that the sound delay is a problem when using surround sound however there is a function allowing you to turn off the internal TV speaker easily which solves this.

The only other thing I would mention is that when I got the TV it would flicker slightly when going from a dark to light scene or visa versa. There is a solution on this forum which is easy to follow - do it! It makes a big difference.

Overall I love my TV and always find it far superior to my mates tv's etc.

I've just read on the Dixons website that the Samsung LE32R88BD is not flatscreen and doe snot have a widescreen option. That doesn't make sense, surely? It looks widescreen to me. Am I reading it right?

Complete misprint. I own the 37" version from dixons and it is indeed widescreen and flat, typical LCD tv.
