The sony is smaller and has less features (I think) but is it worth spending a 100 less and getting the sony? I have less time to wait too seeing as the toshiba isnt even released yet...
Tosh £749.99 http://www.home-entertainment.toshiba.co.uk/consumer/products.nsf/pages/lcdplasma-regzaxv-42xv505d?opendocument
Sony £660 http://www.sony.co.uk/view/ShowProduct.action?product=KDL-40V3000&site=odw_en_GB&imageType=Main&category=TVP+32-40+Sony+BRAVIA+TV
Thanks for any help

actually both features are the same so sony doesnt miss anything apart from the lower dynamic contrast.I personally dont care much about the dynamic contrast the actual contrast is what counts. So I would say the tosh, but its early a little as I want to see some owners first and we dont know what issues it will have.Currently the sony is cheaper so my suggestion is get the sony

Apparently that Tosh doesn't have an adjustable backlight, is that true?

Where did you hear this ? If so I will cancel my order, not matter if the price is 682 pounds with 5% voucher and quidco.

The Toshiba does have an adjustable backlight.
Go for the Sony. Its currently available, cheaper and reliable. You'll have to wait a long time to see if the Tosh XV is up to the task.

I am in a similar boat. I bought the 46v3000 a few months ago and it is very good. BUT now i want to get another tv - 40" or 42" (upto 103cm width) and thought of the tosh since i already had a v3000.
Any news how the tosh is performing and does it give 1080p via vga?
Thanks

No 1080p over VGA for the tosh
