Hi

Was going to get a plasma had done loads of research but have now decided to get an LCD. Can people recomend a 40 or 42" LCD TV (is this too big for SD viewing) to get which gives great SD picture under the following conditions:

Viewing distance 10ft
Standard definition freeview and DVD viewing only
Need an HDMI input and preferbly optical audio from a mac mini
Use with a mac mini
No gaming
No intention of watching HD sources in the near future
Occasional football viewing
I have a budget of £600 and would like a realiable set which gives execellent SD picture.

Hope you can recommend a few sets as i'm totally lost now

Thanks

Chris

Your budget is too low for a decent SD performer at that size.

If budget was no option, I would recommend the Phillips 9632, or the Sony V3000.

I'm doing the same as you and it appears the same two models keep being recommended, the Sony KDL-40V3000 at £600+ or the Toshiba 42Z3030 however the Tosh is £900+ so I would say the Sony would be your best bet. No other models are getting as much recommendation? (or it might be me missing something)

Those are the two best models at the moment.
