Hey peeps.

I am looking to get a new LCD TV/Monitor for my bedroom.

I have narrowed my choices down to either the Samsung 22" SM225MW or the 20" SM2032MW.

80% of the time I use the screen as a monitor for my PC - 20% is used watching TV through my Thomson Freeview PVR so I am not fussed about built in Freeview.

Both TV's are £229 from Argos and since I have a £200 Gift Voucher for this store I would like to buy from there, as well as the fact if I'm not happy with it or it has dead pixels, I can take it back. :)

I am also not really fussed about the design of either - I don't like either one more than the other.

Which is the better panel? The 22" has a contrast ratio of 700:1 while the 20" has 1000:1. Apart from this I can't see a lot of difference in the specs but which screen is newer and does either one have a better quality panel?

Also, am I right to assume the smaller screen may look sharper than the larger as they are the same resolution, so I assume the pixels are just bigger on the larger screen?

I believe both screens can scale to 1080p and assume both have 1:1 pixel mapping due to the nature of the screens?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated from owners of either screen.

Thanks in advance.

Hi

I got the 2032 (from amazon) to replace a 17" CRT on the main PC in my study. All I can say is I'm delighted with the picture quality. It's got lots of connectivity, and the PC VGA input is nearly as good as the DVI input (my graphics card has both).

The only thing I would say is the sound quality from the internal speakers is poor. You can play around with some of the settings, but my 10 quid PC speakers sound better.

Cheers

Kev

Just bought today the 2032 from Richer Sounds for £200. Being used for sky digital and the wii. Initial impressions are that its pretty good picture-wise, but the stand does not seem that substantial (bit plasticky). Don't suppose you can expect too much for £200.

I’ve got the same dilemma as peen. I can get both monitors for £205 although the 225 is a grade A refurb which doesn’t bother me as it comes with a 2 year warranty. The connectivity on both are the same and I was just wondering about picture quality. Its for my sons bedroom so he’ll be occasionally watching tv but mainly using it for the 360. I know that the picture on the 2032 is great for the 360, will it be as good for the 225 as I’d prefer the larger screen for him as he’s being kicked off the family 42”.

I just got my son a cheap 26" from Argos for the same reason!
