Samsungs are less reliable than others at this size for some reason.

I recommend either the Sony D3500, or an even better Sony V3000.

Or you can wait and see if the Toshiba XV or the Samsung A55 get good reviews in the coming month or 2.

in terms of picture and value for money do you think the samsung is the best buy?

Yes, samsung are the best for value for money, I have a Samsung LE37R88BD so I know about this first hand :smashin:

But you get what you pay for at the end of the day.

ok guys choice, i have narrowed it down...

SAMSUNG LE40M87BDX/XEU

or

SONY KDL40D3500

however the sony is FULL HD, and the samsung is HD ready what does that exactly mean??
i am slightly going towards the sony, is there any disadvantages with that choice??

Both are Full HD 1080p so you must have read a typo with that samsung.

The Samsung has 3 HDMI but the Sony has 2 HDMI. If you want that extra HDMI with the Sony, you have to get the Sony V3000, very similar to the D3500 but with 3 HDMI.

The Sony is newer and probably more reliable, but out of the 2, I would still go with the Samsung.

Why not consider the Sony V3000? You can get it now at £600-700, pretty similarly priced to the Samsung and much more reliable.

thats a great option the sony V3000, seems very similar to the D3500 are they the same picture quality, features wise? i will mostly use it for sat tv and sky HD and movies.

V3000 is very similar to the D3500, it just has better connectivity and slightly better pic quality.
