Perfect freeview... and then very poor

Hello!
We had prefect freeview on all the channels for around 6 months since moving to this address but recently the picture on most of the channels but particularly BBC ones are all broken up.
Why would this be and suggestions?
Thanks

Several possible causes
Aerial moved
Water ingress in cable
If extension leads/wall sockets are used could be faulty cabling

and many more but further details of aerial installation would help

Re: Perfect freeview... and then very poor

Apart from all the possible causes Fernandez gives even the weather can change reception. Until I upgraded my ariel I could lose several channels during the summer. Sometimes a booster can help, but reception depends on quality as well as level. If you do nothing you might even find that the picture quality returns as the weather changes. However, that's likely to be temporary.

If you enter your postcode here ( www.wolfbane.com/cgi-bin/tvd.exe? ) it gives ariel advice in the far right hand column. You may find you need to upgrade the ariel apart from any other actions.

Hope this helps.

Re: Perfect freeview... and then very poor

Hi
According to the website captioned I need an 'Amplified extra hi-gain' antenna. At present only a normal 'old style' one is fitted to the house - unfortunately in the middle of the roof, so access is so difficult without a roof ladder. It galls that the reception was so good until around 3 weeks ago... that stormy weather period, so perhaps the ariel has shifted slightly. Better weather conditions has no affect on reception.

Sorry couldn't resist

It seems very likely that the aerial has moved due to the gales and the only solution is to re-align it or perhaps even upgrade
