Sorry I was in a rush

I am trying to setup the wireless network with a laptop a psp and ps3
If I use the cable modem 2100 with direct connect to the laptop the internet works also if I do the same with ps3 it works
, but when I plug the wireless router in nothing works I have turned off all security in the router so it’s open to all items
And they all have the same SSID and basic info to work

So to answer your question I just want to get the wireless router working with the cable modem so all can use the net

Re: wireless help with netgear wpn428 and cable 2100 modem

Virgin's infrastructure may require it to know the MAC Address of the router before it will work. Virgin should be able to tell you if that is the case.
On our cable router I had to clone the address of the previously used ethernet card (that was originally directly connected to the modem) into the router; that way the cable modem saw the same MAC address that it was already used to.

Before you get the wireless side working you should make sure you can get the router working hardwired. I don't think you need to worry about MAC address cloning as your PS3 works and that would not have been registered with VM.

Have you connected any device to one of the routers LAN ports. You need to make sure the router can assign you an IP address correctly . Then make sure the router is assigned an IP address by VM.
