bank hols 40" 1080p considerations, pls help

Hi people, I have 4 40" 1080p LCD's in mind unless convinced otherwise of course

I have the following equipments
(1) PS3
(2) PC server sort of also acting as an HTPC
(3) SKY+ (no HD version)
(4) DVD/HDD player recorder
(5) will be getting a cheap HD media player/center soon

I dont have all that home cinema stuff with tiny speakers all over the place cos i hate mess
I dont watch Football that much but I will still like to think that any TV i buy could at least handle motion adequately
I am not a film watching buff hence you wont catch me dimming the lights and cranking up the volume on a home cinema sound system

My budget is between £700 - £1200

I could probably have gone for the sony X versions at a more expensive price but I think for me, thats an overkill

Which will be the best of my choices below :?
sony KDL40D3500
sony KDL40V3000
sony KDL40W3000
Toshiba 40XF355DB

How are the LG's and Philips with same spec ?

I have noticed on the sony Web that there 1080P TV are not listed as having 1920*1200 Reolutions, are we beign conned to think there are ?

cheers

All these sony's are 1080p native. But with your budget the 40X3000 is pretty close. You can get for some extra money(£200 around). The extra money really worth as its the best LCD currently on the market. The W3000 is not a good choice now it has a major flaw and the W4000 is due next month. So if you want it now get the 40X3000 or the 40V3000+blu ray, home cinema, amp,HD movies. If you dont mind waiting wait to see the 40W4000

I would get the w3000 without a doubt, so many more features added to it than the v3000. Find the reviews here http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/

Aw nooo - I was just about convinced from reading the posts that the W3000 was a good choice. What is this major flaw Chris?

The W3000 fault is the purple and green shadows problem

Re: bank hols 40" 1080p considerations, pls help

Ok from what you guys are saying, then I will benefit from getting the 100Mhz TV which means the 40X3000.

If thats the case i guess i have two options regarding price:-

1) buy the 40X3000 now and be done with
2) wait for the new sonys which might force down the price of the 40X3000

i am sure that equivalent 100hz to the 40x3000 will retail at a much higher cost

The X3000 replacement will not come before september so IMO get the 40X3000

So why does eveyone ignore the KDL40D3500?

It's 100mhz too isn't it? Plus it's about £500 cheaper than the X3000 and looks smaller in a room which is nice if you don't want it to be dominated by the TV.

Anyway, just wanted to know why it's so cruely over looked as it was my choice until I read this thread!

Oh and the X3500, not worth it given it's even more expensive than the X3000?

The 40D3500 is NOT 100Hz mate its pretty similar to 40V3000

The X3500 has just a different design(gun metal) while X3000 has a piano black bezel which is changeable

OK, sorry about that, I thought I'd read somewhere that it was.

So am I right that the conclusion is:
X3000/X3500 if you want the best, W3000 if you want to save around £500?

You save around £300 not 500 but also by buying X3000 you dont risk so much as with the W3000
