Hi there, Ive just recently aquired a ps3, And im after a new tv to make the most of blueray, Ive been looking round at various TV's but havent seem to found the right one.

Ive been told for Gamin it would be best to go with a smaller screen around 32", Is this true??

Id also like a TV for watching movies aswell which brought me onto the thinking of maybe looking for a 37-42", My mate has a samsung im not sure which model it is but it has a gaming mode he says and ive seen it and it does look pretty good but just wondered if anybody else had any different set ups with either an lcd or plasma, Any help would be gladly appreciated :)
Budget would probably be at the most £1,000, Thanks

With such budget you get a 40"!!A V3000 would be ideal

My first HDtv was a 32" 720p LG, good tv for the money but i alway felt that it was missing that certain something, anyway i finally convinced my better half to let me upgrade the tv. So now i have the sony KDL40V3000 and the difference is astounding, if you play alot of games (as i do ) then a 1080p screen is a must, maybe not just now but soon nearly all games will be nativly 1080p and as my PS3 is my main blu-ray player then a full HD set is the way to go. Im not saying you have to buy the sony, im saying get the biggest best quality tv you can get for your budget.

In my opinion,
Best video = plasma screens - Pioneer/Panasonic/Samsung.

But if you want a smaller LCD the two leading manufacturers are Panasonic and Sony. The Panasonic is widely considered to be the market leader.

At your price bracket I would consider a Panasonic 32LXD70, or look at the range of 42" Panasonic plasma screens.

Cheers Guys, So the Sony 40" V3000 seems to be a popular choice! Ive heard great things about the Panasonic PZ70 and the Px70 i think it is? But just wondered if people were judging these on watching movies/normal tv and not Gaming as that is what it will be mostly used for!

Is the Sony V3000 a newish model? i wouldnt wanna waste My budget on a tv if there is a better upgraded versions coming out, I know about the new Panasonic plasma's are out now or soon?

Also does it make a difference on size with games due to the resolution etc....

Cheers for your help guys, All i gotta do now is try pick a good LCD tv so i wont have to buy a new one for years, Probably gonna go for a Sony because for some odd reason i like to have all my stuff with the same make lol, Like the ps3 is sony ill probably get a sony surround aswell if they do any decent enough ones

Unless theres any other getter 40" LCD's i could get for 1k?

Well you could try a 40W3000 Sony but there is an issue with it which makes the 40V3000 a safer option

And price aswell im guessing? I still havent 100% made my mind up on what to get yet, I keep reading reviews etc and then change my mind to the panasonic plasma, I wish somebody would just make a lcd purely for gaming, would make my life a whole lot easier!

I was oringinally after a 37" or 40" lcd or plasma for gaming, was going to get the panasonic th37px70, but after alot of looking around and thinking i have decided on the sony d3000 which is only 32", but since its only going to be for my games i think 32" will be more than enough.

you'll regret buying a 32" imho. I started off on a 27" lcd. now up to 40" and still thinking i should have gone 42"

these things shrink over time so save yourself some money(in the long run) and go for the 40"

I think im more than likely to go for at least a 40" set, Part of me wants to get a 50", that would be pure madness playing on the ps3, but would look so cool infront of my mates :D

If its purely for gaming, which room is this tv going in?? if you've got a small room then think about how close you will be sitting to the screen etc...

I have the Toshiba 37X3030, quite a budget LCD but it works great with my PS3. But if i had a bigger room i would have definately gone for a larger screen..
Changing to HD tv's was quite a difference for me as my other tv was a philips projection (which i hated), and CRT.

Grab yourself a 40" or better still 42" if you got the room... if not 37" is definately fine.

I just ordered myself another 'budget' price LCD for the bedroom Sony KDL-32S3000 which is to be used for another PS3...

TBH, because of the size of my room, any more would be too big, so 32" is the perfect size for me.

If it was for the main room in the house, i would go bigger without a doubt.
