This looks fab. A new Spanish zombie film filmed in the verite' style. It's getting rave reviews and is widely regarded to be one of the scariest films made for some time. According to the reviews it definitely has to be seen at the cinema for full pant-filling effect. Anybody lucky enough to see it yet? I can't wait.

Looks like my kind of thing. I'll keep an eye out for this.

Wow, that looks seriously intense and a helluva lot more effective than George Romero's latest disappointing zombie offering.

Thanks so much for the post, I have just watched a trailer for this on You Tube and I am now desperate to see it. Though as I suppose we should come to expect in the comments underneath a us re-make is on its way under the title of "Quarantine", I am now going to hunt the original one down.

this is my saturday night movie , so i,ll get back to you. all the reviews and posts indicate that it is indeed the scariest film released in many a long day ( or should that read night!)
looking forward to watching, but with great trepidation! the trailer on you tube was extremely tense and that was in a 4" box, so projected to six feet....

Well just finished watching this and WOW!!
Its so intense and visceral its unreal! Tension pretty much kicks in straight away and one things start to go wrong the shocks just keep coming!

Its hard trying to write a review without giving spoilers so all im going to say is a brief premise for those that dont know!
Basically a small tv crew (cameraman and female presenter) are with the fire brigade shooting a fly on the wall doc about the life of the fire service etc. The fire service get a call about a woman being trapped in an apartment and when they go to investiage things go very wrong.. and i mean WRONG!!!

IMO its a must see horror and the best ive seen since "inside" altho i still think thats better as it left me feeling more uncomfortable.

Finale in this is nailbitingly good! I just finished watching it now at 2:30am and my house is all dark and im man enough to say im a bit paranoid now!

Cant imagine what my wife would think of this!! She wouldnt sleep for mths if i made her watch it!

9/10 for me!!

watched this during the week and was mostly impressed,i wouldnt exactly call it scary though,it had a few high tension moments, and the live action cam was ok much better than cloverfield,so not a bad movie but nothing we havent seen before, well worth watching if you dont mind subtitled movies.

I watched it last night and it is indeed excellent. The ending in particular is nail biting. Highly recommended. Just don't watch it on your own.

Got to say this is king of Blair Witch type movies, highly effective spainish horror, brillantly acted out by the natural lead female news reporter. Excellently edited. The adrenaline finalé is well executed. Scary? - more chilling. 7.5/10

I must be on my own on this one but I thought it was crap!

Did not find it scary at all - infact I found it unintentionally funny at times - well made though...don't believe the hype!

got round to watching this last night and although i do recommend it, i found it to be less suspensful than i anticipated. the majority of the film runs more like an action film and exciting one at that . it,s the last 10 mins where the suspense really kicks in.

I quite like the look of this and would definitely consider picking up the Blu-ray if I could find it for a reasonable enough price.

really dissapointed with this in the end.....doesn't come close to what Blair witch achieves. granted this is not the sort of movie that suits a macbookpro 15" so will give it a go when its released on the blu.

i did like the ending, but it felt that it was set up to 'out blair' the blair witch. but the so called 'ride' up until then was pretty boring and predictable ( the whole vet thing and most of the 'shocks' you knew were coming ), and at a mere 1hr 15m i thought id be rivited all the way through. apart from the ending i felt this niether worked well as a horror or action film.

still cloverfield is yet to be beaten for a cinematic exerience this year.....

Quarantine teaser trailer

The US remake seems to be shot for shot, in the same building, and maybe even the same effects , so the americans can have english speaking americans i guess

watched the original earlier in the week and just watched the trailer for the remake "quarantine" on you tube and if you have any intention of watching "rec" avoid the trailer as it is one massive spoiler, all the major scenes are featured including the very last few frames of the film. dumb.

Wow! I watch a lot of horror movies, not many of them get me screaming like a little girl..... Great feel of tension, action packed in parts, cracking scary moments! The story is nothing new, the film takes from others just like it- nothing wrong with that. I felt the paced slowed down in the middle, a bit of re-editing may of helped. Anyway, I'm taking nothing away from the movie, as overall i loved it.

And i watched it alone.....

***? How to spoil the film in one easy swoop! Crazy.

Well the only thing Blair Witch achieved for me was a feeling of "what a waste of money and what a load of crap" so if you're saying this is even worse than that I think I shall avoid it.

Most people will not know when the film will end even after seeing the trailer, so how do people who have not seen the spanish film know there is a spoiler in the remake trailer - the more you mention it , the more likely they will cotton on.

.

Maybe. Its more the point of a very poor trailer, which then may reflect on the film. How many comedy films have you seen with all the funny bits in the trailer!?

When is this getting a uk release? Saw a poster for it last night at my local Vue which said 11th April yet it's no-where on the current listings or upcoming listings there or cineworld.

Was it that bad last weekend that they've taken it off already?

It opened on Friday 11th and it is still on release. It is on three of the major cinemas here in Newcastle. It will have a limited release due to the low budget nature and the fact that foreign films don't usually get a wide distribution.

It may take a few weeks to reach you. Keep 'em peeled.

Checked the listings for all of aberdeen's cinemas (cineworld, vue and indie) and none of them have it listed in the next few weeks.

Cineworld and Vue seem to be cutting down the list of showings around the country from next week onwards so it doesn't look good at all. Closest place is edinburgh :thumbsdow

It's probably worth just buying the dvd with subs.
