Hi,

i am currently using my ex-subscription sky digibox to receive freesat, if i was to buy a sky+ digibox off ebay, can i just plug my viewing card into it and use the sky+ features (record, pause rewind live tv) on the ftv channels?

many thanks,

Baz

Nope, the SKY+ service is currently £10 a month or free if you take any SKY subscription channel package.

Wait a couple of months and see what happens with Freesat and the STB's they offer and how SKY react. If everything pans out you may get all the same channels on a Freesat box with DVR functions with no monthly fee this year.

I did the same, got a box and card off ebat and i had all the rewind functions, but i think that was cos the box hadnt been 'turned off'.

You will need two feeds for the sky+ box for all the features.

My experience is that I bought a new Pace 160gb for my Sky+, and thought I would use my old Pace 3100 for FTV. I bought the card for £20 from Sky to get the extra channels, 4, Five etc., especially for "House".
I cannot get any functions except watching just the one channel, even with two feeds.
No Sky+ functions are available, e.g. no pause ,no rewind, no recording. It will not change channels automatically as you cannot programme ahead.
Previously with my old Pace MSS100 and no card, I could at least programme ahead and it would automatically change the channel so that I could record to my VHS unit.
As I have had a 250 gb hdd put into the Pace 3100 after it failed, (which worked fine with Sky+ before the new box came,) I am now going back to the MSS and the 250 gb goes into a cupboard.
If I get Sky to reset the FTV card to the MSS, will I lose the automatic programme change?

Wassap, can I clarify then. You acquired a pre-installed Sky+ box and a pre-subscribed Sky+ card but are now using for only Free To View (right BBC1 @ 101, right ITV on 103 + C4 & C5 etc) and you can get all the Sky+ features to work without a monthly subscription ?

That's the stuff of my dreams :lease:
