Cyberlink, is it fully decoding Hi Res formats yet ?

Just thought I,d ask if anyone knows whether Cyberlink Power DVD ultra is actually decoding the High Res (DD +, DTS master etc) sound formats yet and not just downmixing them ?

I still come across postings on here with people talking about Cyberlink and how it sounds amazing with the new High Res sound formats. To my knowledge it still is'nt decoding them. Any news yet on this or other software which will do it ?
I am aiming to connect my PC via the 7.1 channel analogue outs into my Yamaha 2700 7.1 analogue inputs.

If you mean the lossless stuff it currently plays dolby true-HD and PCM, but not DTS-HD MA yet

Even though it downmixes soundtracks to 48k this is still considered lossless/high def. The majority of soundtracks only come at 48k anyway and to be honest i bet most people haven't got the kit to tell the difference anyway.

Some people claim that the latest build of PowerDVD doesn't downmix high rate soundtracks, others aren't sure, and even more don't own a 96k track at all. To me it seems that most can't tell the difference. I certainly can't. Maybe I need to replace my 3 grand system or my ears .

What I do know is that my favourite soundtrack is Transformers and thats not even lossless

TOTALLY confused now..other threads are saying that this is all downmixed to standard DD 5.1. I am pretty sure that all these reports of high res decoding is in people's imagination and that they are actually listening to DD 5.1

No, its not reduced to dolby digital at all. People seem to have got overly worried with this downsampling of the bit rate to only 48k whereas 48k is the standard for most releases so far anyway. A 48k True-HD track is still lossless and still should sound better than a dolby digital equivalent. Will it sound better depends on if you have an Intel G35 motherboard plus a new HDMI HD decoding receiver, or a decent analogue soundcard plus poweramp setup.

I think it doesn't help that Windows refers to 48k output as DVD quality even though 48k is the standard for HD too

This link might help
