Movies that have the worst climax... Please Hide Spoilers.
Just reading about Vantage Point, and it seems it has an anti-climatic ending, so I thought I would make a new thread about the worst endings to great movies.
My top choices are...
'IT' ... spoilered.. Clown is in fact an alien spider
and
'Life On Mars'.. not a movie, but fits the description.
What movies were great right up until the final chapter...

The departed.
But then I didn't think it was a good film at all really.

Scream 3. Ruined what had the potential to be some cracking late 90's movies with an ending that made NO sense and felt so rushed it hurt...

Of course you are entitled to your opinion, but your's would put you firmly in the minority, at least as far as the overall film is concerned.
Off the top of my head.....i would go for the 2001 remake of Planet Of The Apes, but im sure i could think of an even more deserving candidate, given some time.

I'm afraid that Kill Bill 2 has to go on this list, after the amazing Kill Bill 1.

Are you meaning the film in general, or the climax, which we are being asked for?
As far as i can remember, the ending stayed pretty much faithful to the original.

It did. In the novel and the film the protagonist was reunited with a loved one presumed lost. In the book it was his wife, in the film his son.
I really struggled at the time to understand people's discomfort and the howls of "sentimental rubbish" over Cruise embracing his son at the end of the movie. I mean, you wouldn't do that in real life, would you, if you just found out your child that you presumed dead was alive?

Whats strong in this film is the pacing and the work up to this point, what happens in this final act is totally out of synch because several threads become totally untangled and unexplained.
Unfortunately, at the conclusion the movie really hits a brick wall, jumping from danger and menace to accomplishment and then to credits in an unnaturally quick time. Jarringly so in fact, with what feels like a horribly tacked-on narrative exposition voice-over right at the end – hardly a fitting climax for the previous 100-minutes of expertly handled peril.
While the ending is probably the most glaring problem with the movie, there are other slightly nagging questions which arise, such as why everyone is heading to Boston as if it is some kind of assured safe-haven from robot beings. Or the almost entirely unexplained aspect of what happens to Robbie during the third act. These problems are significantly less major though, and can be overlooked if you’re enjoying the film enough, but the make in my view a poor climax.
The fact it may be similar to the original is surely irrelevent to the thread

Looks like I'm in that minority too then... terrible terrible rip off of the superb HK film Infernal Affairs! Now that is a good film... The Departed, well I can safely I will not be watching that again in a hurry!
