RAMBO is coming

Lionsgate Home Entertainment has announced that they will release 'Rambo' on Blu-ray May 27th, day-and-date with the DVD release. Additionally, they will release 'Rambo: First Blood Part II' and 'Rambo III' on Blu-ray the same day. They will join the previously released 'First Blood' Blu-ray disc to complete the saga. Specs include 1080p video accompanied by a 7.1 PCM soundtrack.

No extras have been announced at this time, but they are be billed as "special editions", so look for Lionsgate to pack the releases with everything available.

You should really credit sources when you post their information: http://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=1088

More information: http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/sh..._This_May/1540

It would appear the pre orders have begun too: http://www.dvdempire.com/Exec/v4_ite...searchID=72879

If the cinema experience was anything to go by, then the audio is going to be pretty stunning for this

Re: RAMBO is coming

Got these coming on HD and apparently the transfer is stunning. Wonder if the new film will make it to HD?

I think the blu ray covers look cooler than the hd ones.

Well that's gonna make things a little easier.

I've always been confused on the rules regarding links and thought that it wasn't permitted to link from HDD and Bluray.com

Glad it's cleared up.

Here's the link for the pre-order for the latest movie from the same site you listed;

http://www.dvdempire.com/Exec/v4_ite...searchID=72879

Regarding the 2008 Rambo movie, it's an interesting one.

Panned by the critics as an average of 26 reviews, but given a overall rating of 9 from 200 members of the public here;

http://www.metacritic.com/film/titles/rambo2007?q=rambo

I've not seen it yet.

Re: RAMBO is coming

What about a 1 - 4 boxset? Edit: Looks like we're getting a 1 - 3 boxset and 4 seperately. Seems a bit daft but hey it's business.

Re: RAMBO is coming

I hope that Rambo 4 isnt region coded as i really want this. I already have the other three on HD-DVD so no need for the box set for me; just need the 4th one

Had quick glance at Lionsgate's US release region coding policy and it seems completely random madness.

For example;

Top titles like First Blood (interestingly), 3:10 to Yuma, Crash and Lord of War amongst many others are region free.

Others like American Psycho, Crank, King of New York and Reservoir Dogs are locked.

Even more worryingly and bizarrely with a potential box set release, Saw and Saw II are region free, but Saw III and IV are locked which doesn't bode well.

Surely they wouldn't be crazy enough to release a box set with First Blood region free and one (or both) of the others locked?

Re: RAMBO is coming

Hoping all the new releases are Region Free! But like it's been said Lionsgate are a bit of a mix bag. I'm sure that films that they region locked were on the Cinema's over here when they released them to Blu-ray/DVD, so hopefully no region coding for the Rambo's!

Unfortunately it's not as simple as that with Lionsgate.

If you look at the examples of locked titles I included on my previous post, they were all released in the cinema years ago (with Crank being the most recent).

It's probably something to do with differing international distributors but trying to work that out is complicated, unless someone can point me to a good online resource.

Re: RAMBO is coming

Cant wait for this. Seriously better had be region free, or I can see a double dip with the sd 2 disc version being ordered first. Looks like its getting the royal treatment and hopefully some extra footage / scenes. When I watched this at the cinema the sound was awesome, so I am particularly delighted to see they are making a special effort with the sound for release

Re: RAMBO is coming

Where it says that the Film includes a Digital Copy, could this be what SONY showed off a few months ago about putting a Blu-Ray movie in your PSP and getting a free SD copy that you can watch on your PSP?

I hope this is it as i have been excited about this feature
