No sound from PS3 HDMI out to TV??
Hi all,
Just been trying the PS3 with my TV only and amp off but get no sound from the TV.
It's set up to output 44.1khz and 48khz PCM audio only via HDMI as that's all my Samsung LE40F71 supports....but not heard owt! What gives??
Fine via optical to my Sony amp.

Hi mate 
What do you have BD DVD HDMI audio output set to? Bitstream. 
Also check: Audio output settings > HDMI > Automatic.
Pioneer KRP-600M, Onkyo 876, M&K LCR 750, M&K M4T, SVS SB12+, PS3, Oppo 983, S5000ES , XE1, Logitech 1000 remote, wildlife pond in back garden.

Ahhh! Sorted it. Yep. HDMI was on Automatic in the Audio Out settings but Bitstream in the BD/DVD settings (er....confusing!).
Works ok now.
Can't say I'm blown away with it as a games console. My 360 seems better on a lot of these demos.....noisy but better

Right. Change the BD/DVD settings to Linear PCM and Audio settings to PCM 44.1khz and 48khz audio fine through the TV but now no audio to my amp via optical. BD/DVD settings are set to Bitstream for Optical out and setup in the Audio settings to Dolby AC3 and DTS 5.1.
If I change/confirm one the other stops working. What the frig????

Hi mate
Can't you go HDMI to your amp and out HDMI to your TV?
Otherwise,no HD audio. 
If using optical:
1.Try this, Settings - BD/DVD Settings -BD AUDIO OUTPUT FORMAT(Optical Digital) then select bitstream.
You will get a warning that some portions of audio may not play.
Then just make sure that on SOUND SETTINGS - AUDIO OUTPUT SETTINGS you have selected - DIGITAL OUT (Optical) then ticked Dolby Digital 5.1,DTS 5.1.
HD audio settings.
2. BD/DVD Audio Optical Format (HDMI) LPCM.
Pioneer KRP-600M, Onkyo 876, M&K LCR 750, M&K M4T, SVS SB12+, PS3, Oppo 983, S5000ES , XE1, Logitech 1000 remote, wildlife pond in back garden.

My amps of 7 years vintage (but a corker for music so it's staying!) so no HDMI.
Did the settings that way but as soon as I change one (i.e. set up the Optical out settings) the other stops working once saved!!

Hi mate
BD/DVD Audio Optical Format (HDMI) set to bitstream.
BD Audio output format (optical) set to Bitstream.
Have your amp on and then try the PS3 with Digital Out Optical > should come up as ticked what's available.
Try putting in a disc as well.

Just installing some demos so will check that again but it seems to work fine on my amp when doing that but get silence in games from the TV.
Put a similar post on the PS3 forums (on here) and have been told it's either Optical digital audio or HDMI audio at one time and not both! If so, that's pants!
