Dv139/av9
Muppet mode on.
Having taken delivery of the above. I can't get it to work correctly
On connecting it all up (obviously wrongly), I can only get the system to play DVD's in stereo, ie nothing coming from the rest of the speakers.
I am obviously being a idiot.
Any pointers??
Cheers

Re: Dv139/av9
How have you got it connected up?
Have you set the DV139's digital ouptut to bitstream?

Re: Dv139/av9
It sounds like you're using the left \ right audio cables to the analouge AV9 inputs for the DVD rather than the coax digital?
If you're using a coax cable it might be worth just checking the other inputs incase its wrongly assigned.
edit - or ^ as Crusty says!

Re: Dv139/av9
Hello chaps,
the digital output is set to bitstream and it's connected to the AV9 via coax.
Also, the display on the AV9 doesn't seem to show any DD or DTS options only Prologic or Neo:6.
Neil.

Re: Dv139/av9
Are you actully playing a Dolby Digital or DTS soundtrack from a disc?
Make sure you have everything connected to the right sockets and that the digital inputs are assigned correctly on the AV9.

Yes, tried various discs, all the same.
Everything appears to be connected correctly.
How do I check the input assignment?

Re: Dv139/av9
Just a thought but does the amp know that its a 5.1 system? Make sure its not set to 2.1.

I would remove the analouge cables and just use the coax to make sure thats the connection you're using.

Re: Dv139/av9
OK - do you get any sound out of the rear channels? If not can you try a a test tone from the amp?

Re: Dv139/av9
Here we go again.
Following the original issues (which miraculously disappeared), I mhave now lost the front left and centre speaker channels. One minute working fine then nothing.
I've checked the obvious but nothing appears to be wrong. The speakers both work in other channels so they are fine.
Any ideas?
Cheers.

Re: Dv139/av9
Check that you don't have any stray strands of wire shorting the speaker cable or terminals at either the amplifier or the speaker end. Have a good look with a bright light - all it would take is a single strand of copper intermittently shorting the terminals to cause a fault such as the one you describe. If you aren't already, use cables terminated in spades or banana plugs rather than bare wire, which helps to avoid this.

Re: Dv139/av9
Hi,
already have banana plugs and checked all the basics.
The dead channels suddenly started working again. I'm convinced that there is an intermittent fault in the amp.
