Looks good, anyone have any feedback on them?

Weve had a Toppy for last 2-3 years so havent looked into anything else recently!

Re: Physically small PVR?

I have one of these and it is really good. I had the same problem of needing a certain size box due to space on rack and this did everything i need.

Had one for a year now and no real issues with it.

It is actually made by Sony if you do some reading on it.

Re: Physically small PVR?

Thanks, just been doing the research and its the old Sony plant in Wales i think, but cant really see anything negative about them.

Question though, their is talk that the Logik and Wharfedale similar models are actually the same as this with a different shell - is this the case or are they just copies?

They're just rebadged. I have a Wharfedale version and it's pretty good. There's a minor software issue with the audio occasionally getting out of sync if you fast forward, but it's easily solvable - and I understand will be fixed by a software update in the Spring. For £75 it was a great buy.

Re: Physically small PVR?

Tescos were clearing some out dirt cheap not long ago and there are a few labels for the TVonics box (designed by ex Sony staff)

Re: Physically small PVR?

If you're after the Wharfedale version, make sure you get the one that's the same shape as the TVonics; there are other Wharfedale PVRs that are built on a completely different platform.

Re: Physically small PVR?

Thanks, just had confirmation from TVOnics that they make for Logik, Wharfedale and Tecknika - very inpressed with their spped of reply - you can tell they dont work for Sony anymore!

Anyone know the model numbers of the Tecknika one?

On another note, nwhitfield -dont suppose you know when the Freeview Playback firmware update for the Toppy is coming out?

Re: Physically small PVR?

I don't have a firm date, but it won't be too long. The Topfield engineers were here last week, doing some testing in the UK; we've just had another beta firmware today, and we'll be giving feedback on that over the course of this week.

Re: Physically small PVR?

The thread so far appears to have been discussing the earlier single record TVonics PVRs. They have now released a new dual record model available form Argos as shown here. There is also a 250GB Version (DTR-FP2500). Both are listed on the TVonics website.
