Chasing cables in exposed brick...

We have placed an offer on a new house, it needs some work and a general tidy up, I am planning if all goes well to mount a tv above the fire place, the walls at present are exposed brick;

we have a builder friend who is going to plaster over the brick for us, however i want to chase the cables into the wall first, how will i do this with the exposed brick??

I don`t know whats behind the brick but wouldn`t it be better to removed it and gain space as well

the sections either side of the fireplace are 1x brick depth, and so I can rip these out no problem and make good the wall behind, however the fire place wall is quite deep and I am unsure on what is behind, so the plan was just to skim over this. as what ever is behind this would prob need skiming anyway so possible save a bit of time??

Re: Chasing cables in exposed brick...

you could go and hire a wall chaser from your local hire shop

OR

The old way of a big club hammer and bolster

Re: Chasing cables in exposed brick...

Be warned though, a wall chaser creates unbelievable amounts of dust.
But it is much quicker than a hammer and chisel.
