I've been wondering what resolution freesat would likely to broadcast? 720p? 1080i? 1080p? I'm about to buy a 46" Sony HD TV and obviously want HD content but I'm resisting Sky HD because of the cost. Any guesses?
What does BBC HD and ITV HD broadcast in currently on Sky? Is it 1080i?
Thanks
Mike

Everyone uses 1080i at this time, bandwidth constraints and current codecs rule out 1080p, for that content go Blu-ray but if your TV has a good de-interlacer than a 1080i source is not a weakness.
The BBC are unlikely to change formats after using 1080i for so long and I believe ITV used 1080i on DTT and Telewest in the 2006 trial.

Thanks for the information. I already have a PS3 so can't wait to get the TV. Still, I've watched Discovery channel HD, which I assume is 1080i, which is just fantastic! It'll do! :)
Thanks
