I watched this movie this afternoon and it's excellent! Tells the story of one cop who's actually a triad plant in the HK police force, and another cop who's actually a plant in the triad gang that the first cop works for. It's very nicely filmed with solid direction and good performances throughout. There are some moving moments and lots of excitement, particularly towards the end.
The 2 disk DVD is presented nicely in a keep case with a slip cover.
The first disk contains two versions of the movie - the original HK theatrical release and a second version with an alternative ending. Looks like they used seamless branching (and it is seamless). Forget the second version however as this merely drops the excellent HK 10-min ending in favour of a brief lacklustre 1-min ending. I presume the second ending was made because.......
[SPOILER ALERT - DON'T READ THE NEXT PARAGRAPH IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE MOVIE]
.... some Asian countries require movies to show criminals brought to justice. They are not allowed to 'get away' with it. The second ending meets this criteria.
[END OF SPOILER ALERT - YOU CAN CARRY ON READING NOW ]
The second disk contains some extras such as documentaries, music videos, etc but not all have English subtitles, so a lot was wasted on me...
The video transfer is mainly very crisp with good levels of detail.
I listened to the Cantonese DTS 5.1 track and it was superb - there are some great moments in there and some nice use of the rears and the LFE.
The English subtitles are mostly very good but there is the odd grammatical error and typo here and there but it's infrequent and not annoying. One problem with the subtitles however is that there is the odd occassion when they disappear far too quickly (e.g. one 2-line set of subtitles appeared and disappeared within a fraction of a second!).
At the price CD-WOW are selling this for, you really can't go wrong :smashin:
