integrated freeview tv & pvr ?

firstly

not sure if this is in the right section...but

was thinking of getting a new tv, but all of the one's i like have freeview built in, but i already have a pvr that gives me my freeview signal on my current tv.

what i want to know, is there any way of switching the freeview part of the tv off, so that i recieve the freeview signal through my pvr ?

if you can't switch it off, would the pvr still work properly even though the freeview signal is coming from the tv ?

as you can tell, i'm not that technically minded, so any help would be great.

Re: integrated freeview tv & pvr ?

There is no reason why you would need to turn the freeview part of the tv off. If there is an aerial going into the PVR then it will work as it does now. Connect the PVR to the TV via SCART. Most TVs will automatically switch to the PVR when they are running. If your PVR is not capable of receiving 2 channels at once (show one, record another) then you can make use of the Freeview facility in the TV.
