sony 40v3000 vs shap lc37x20e vs toshiba 37z3030d
Hi, been looking at the 3 tv's above & cant decide which one, I want a tv that is full hd, with 24fps & 100hz preferably.
The tosh is the only one with all 3 and has 5.5 pull down on 24fps. Is it important to have the 5.5 pull down on 24fps or doesn't it make that much difference, I have read part of the huge thread about the tosh 37z and peoples complaints about stating that the 5.5 pull down doesnt seem to work.
Do you think that 100hz is a key factor of buying a tv or should i not concentrate on that too much?
will mainly be using it for general sky viewing, dvd and 360 playing.
Are all three tv's definatley full hd as I have seen them labeled differently by certain companies stating that they are 1080p ready and not full!
Which has the best picture?
thanks

Get the Sony - I did!
Ignore the 100Hz thing too, a lot of people find that they prefer the picture with the 100Hz function turned off!
Cheers,
Mike

thanks for your comments guys, I read a thread that said the sony suffers with motion smear? Have you noticed this at all Mike? Are you happy with your Sony, have you noticed any problems at all?
thanks

Re: sony 40v3000 vs shap lc37x20e vs toshiba 37z3030d
Ok, thanks, just read another thread on this forum with some one saying that they cant get 1920 x 1080 res when connecting pc, will it do this resolution when connecting 360?
Is the tv actually a full hd tv as some places advertise it as 1080 ready and not full.
thanks

Its 1080p full HD,also it can display 1080p from pc(that you saw was referring to the fact it cant do 1080p from vga only),also from xbox 360 via HDMI,component

Re: sony 40v3000 vs shap lc37x20e vs toshiba 37z3030d
Ollie, I am completely happy with the screen, now that it is calibrated. There is no ghosting, smearing, backlight bleed or clouding. Images are stable, natural and easily on a par with tvs costing double (RRP).
The set is full HD and has 1920 x 1080 pixels and can display this resolution without trouble. Also, 24fps via my PS3 is sublime.
Find a decent offer and get one.
Cheers,
Mike

what would you recommend getting out of the tosh 37z and the sony? Like the sony but doesnt have 100hz or 5.5 pulldown, but read some of the massive thread with people complaining that the 5.5 doesnt seem to work with the tosh
thanks

Re: sony 40v3000 vs shap lc37x20e vs toshiba 37z3030d
The 37Z has a very slight advantage on football, because of 100Hz but its very slight and the 5:5 pulldown is not working so well,as you said,so in the end I say the sony

I would definnately go for the Toshiba.
With the Sharp, you pay for what you get.
With the Sony, you pay for the name, commercials, and endless copy protection sponsoring.
With the Toshiba, you pay for the quality.

Well, its not that bad the things as you say them,Toshiba is one of the best 37",but you definitely dont pay for the sony only for the name and the commercials,100% proof the happy owners

Mike - obviously Im being thick, but what does D65 Calibrated mean?
I've still got the Sony V3000 + PS3 deal on order from John Lewis for £899. Wasn't sure whether to keep it or not? Is SD really bad?

D65 is a calibration standard which basically means that the white point of the set is fixed to 6500k. This is what most movies and tv programmes are set to, so what you see on the tv is what you were meant to see.
SD performance is good, not necessarily the best out there, but not bad by an stretch of the imagination.
Cheers,
Mike
