Samsung freeview losing channels
Hi
I have a Samsung 26" LCD with built in freeview.
All was find until a couple of weeks ago. I am unable to get certain freeview channels now.
They appear in the TV guide, but when I try to put that channel on, I get the message 'channel unavailable'.
Any ideas why some channels would suddenly start doing this (but not all) and what I could do to fix this.
Cheers

Re: Samsung freeview losing channels
BBC4 and Film4 are the ones I have noticed.
Think there may be a couple of others too.

Re: Samsung freeview losing channels
i get this all the time with my samsung. channels seem to come and go as they like! usually (but not always) rescanning makes it worse. for instance, if bbc suddenly gets a lot worse, breaking up etc... after a rescan it wont be there at all
even last night i lost nearly all channels for about twenty minutes. so went for a walk, came back, everything was fine. WHY!? lol

Re: Samsung freeview losing channels
A poor signal is probably why.
It sounds as though your signal is just on the threshold of receivability.

Re: Samsung freeview losing channels
You have to understand that, unlike analogue, in the digital realm, the difference in signal quality between "only just good enough to be perfect", and "not quite good enough so causes glitches" and "poor enough to cause no signal" is tiny. With a marginal reception (due to a combination of local conditions and an inadequeate aerial) it WILL vary like this. The route to proper reception is the right aerial installation for the job.

Re: Samsung freeview losing channels
This is interesting as my parents in law have just got a Samsung 40" LCD and are having the same issues, ITV comes and goes on Freeview. I assumed that because my father in law's aerial is indoors in the loft he really needs one outside to boost the reception, sounds like my suspicions are correct, its a signal problem rather than TV - its funny though that the other channels, are fine and when he does get ITV on it, the picture is the best out the lot!
