is best connection component video

Hi i have just dug out my old x box ( not 360) and want to connect it through my amp i was going to connect the audio straight into the amp and the video at the back of the tv but the leads dont seperate and at present the amp is not connected to the tv .. my amp is denon A1SRA and dvd player is A11 denon which i have connected to the tv by component video leads should i get another set of component leads and go dvd player into amp with components and then monitor tv out on the amp (component video) to the tv would this lower the quality of the picture on dvd playback ??

I have an AVC-A1SR and I run component via the amp without any noticeable effect on signal quality.
