Top bolts pulling out slightly - worried?

Just had a look around the back of our wall mount holding up the Panasonic 50PZ70 and the top row of bolts seems to be pulled out around 1cm ish. The screen seems pretty secure, but should we be worried?

Going to have to re-seat the screen anyway when it gets taken back, so we're going to sort it out anyway. What's the best get these screws a tighter fit in the holes?

Re: Top bolts pulling out slightly - worried?

I would take it down and refit with rawlbolts, I'm assuming you have used plastic plugs. I have just fitted a 42in Panasonic using the supplied fittings which were plastic plugs 80mm long using a 10mm drill everything secure so far.

Re: Top bolts pulling out slightly - worried?

I would also take it down stright away, its the top bolts that hold the plasma up, bottom ones arnt so important as the weight of the tv pushes in at the bottom. What fixings did you use?

I used 50mm nylon plugs and 70mm coach bolts, i used 10 to be safe and its on the wall and aint coming down. I could hang of the plasma if i really wanted.

Re: Top bolts pulling out slightly - worried?

We installed it with everything that came with this wall bracket:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/PLB103M-Univ...1002870&sr=8-2

My housemate was hanging off the bracket without the TV on it and it seemed secure then.

What would you recommend replacing them with and what are rawlbolts?

It's going into a brick wall.

Re: Top bolts pulling out slightly - worried?

What size drill bit did you use? You shouldnt of had a problem on a brick wall.

Re: Top bolts pulling out slightly - worried?

Pretty sure we used a 1/2" drill bit, went out that morning to buy one from the local hardware store with one of the bolts and plastic plugs in hand.

edit: Just been told he used a 5mm pilot and 15mm drill

Sounds like the drill bit was too big! So what would be the solution here?

Re: Top bolts pulling out slightly - worried?

Well the bolts and nylon wall plugs that came with my bracket required a 10mm drill bit. Ive always used a 10mm bit when it comes to coach bolts and plugs. There should be a number on the side on the wall plug to tell you the size of drill bit to use.

I used this wall plugs.......

http://www.screwfix.com/prods/13756/...lon-Plug-6-8mm

and these coach bolts......

http://www.screwfix.com/prods/13425/...crews-8-x-70mm

if you can, offset the bracket a few inchs and re drill the holes.

Re: Top bolts pulling out slightly - worried?

Rawbolts are abit overkill, no harm in using them but coach bolts do just aswell. i use to work in av and installed near loads of plasmas and came across hundreds installed and never really used rawbolts, even used 100mm coach bolts when it came to unicol swing arms and they only have 3 mounting holes and weigh a fair amount.

How heavy is your screen and who told you to use rawbolts?

I used the kit that came with the bracket and had no issues. It sounds like overkill to me.

Re: Top bolts pulling out slightly - worried?

What size drill bit did you use?

We're waiting for Digital Direct's couriers to contact us and come and pick up the one we've got, take it back and then hopefully replace it due to a dead line on the middle of the screen.

Think we're going to have to order a new set of plugs, screws and drill bit from Screwfix.

edit:Is this suitable?
http://www.screwfix.com/prods/13909/...ll-10-x-125mm#

And what would we get to fill in the old holes?

edit2: Ordered the coach bolts, plugs and the 10mm drill bit

Just read through it, cheers.

Re: Top bolts pulling out slightly - worried?

No need to fill in the old holes either really if there behind the screen
