Question Am I asking too much for £200 systems?

Hi - hope someone can guide me here, as I seem unable to find anything that fulfills all my requirements for an all in one home theatre system to replace my Sony DAV S550...

Should have;
  • integral DVD player
  • main unit to be 'long' rather than 'tall'
  • small speakers rather than the stupid tallboy things
  • 750W or greater
  • HDMI connectivity
  • Optical connectivity (for PS2)
  • 5.1 channels
  • Digital Media Port (or similar) to connect my iPod
  • Radio tuner
  • 'auto setup' as per a lot the Sony 'Digital Cinema Auto Cariblation'
  • ideally nice discrete silver speakers (accept I may be on a loser here)
  • approx £200 (+/- 10%)
I looked at the Sony HTSS1100, but it doesn't have an integral DVD player (which means I'd have to buy another bit of kit!), and the Sony DAV-DZ203/231, but that doesn't have the optical input for my PS2.

Should I;
  1. just use my PS2 as a DVD player (eventually upgrading to a PS3) and go for the HTSS1100;
  2. or should I go for the HTSS1100 and buy an add-on DVD player (recommendations please);
  3. or do I go for the DAV-DZ203/231 and lose the optical connectivity option;
  4. or is there a better, more close matching bit of kit out there that I am missing??
Help me please...

Re: Am I asking too much for £200 systems?

A couple to consider...

I'm probably going for the Samsung HT-X30
No Auto Setup, but does upscale DVDs. Hard to find at the moment, but try:

Samsung HT-TX35R/Samsung HT-X30R

Jamo JA-S502HCS51
Looks great, but no Optical in (does have digital coaxial in tho). Is a DVD player even if it isn't clear. You can check the manual here:

Best price is on Play:

They do exist, but finding them on the internet is much harder than it should be. Good luck!

Re: Am I asking too much for £200 systems?

Thanks for the pointers, I'll take a look.

I'm veering towards getting the HTSS1100 and hooking it up to my PS2 for playing DVDs - although as the fan is a bit noisy, I'll eventually swap it out for a PS3.

That seems to make sense - why have 2 bits of kit when I don't need them...?
