No sound from laptop?
My Inspiron 1000 has lost its sound. The card appears to have died. Can this be repaired at home as it is three years old so not worth sending away.
I dont need an expensive alternative just a new internal card.

there isn't a soundcard in your notebook: due to the miniaturization constraints, it's all implemented on the mainboard. you can however buy an additional USB or PCMCIA soundcard.
