Problem shutting down.

Hi

I have an HTPC running Windows Media Centre Edition. When ruuning everything is fine with no problems at all but whenever I shut down it seems to take ages, at least 10 mins on the "Windows is shutting down" screen before it finally switches off.

Any ideas as to what might be causing this or how to troubleshoot it?

Thanks

Re: Problem shutting down.

You could try looking in Event Viewer to see if there are any errors in there.

While it's sitting there shutting down is there a lot of HDD activity or does it just sit there quietly ?

Re: Problem shutting down.

Not sure if this Microsoft utility will work on your Media Center, but may be worth a look.

Re: Problem shutting down.

Just before you shut down, worth having a look in task manager and see what is running. Of course google the processes before you manually close
