To many remotes not enough inputs

Here’s my problem.[

TV
SKY+
PS3
[Sound system
4 controllers!!!!!

My wife is sick of having 4 controllers I need to get rid of some

My plan has been to do away with TV controller as the only use it has is to switch the video input source from HD (for the PS3) to ext1 (scart) for the SKY. (for some reason NO other controller even a universal will do this)[/

]At the moment my PS3 is connected to the sound box via dig optical as is the sky box. The Ps3 is connected for video to TV via HDMI to DVI (the TV is a 2yr old LCD NO HDMI inputs) the SKY is scart

My question is it possible to get the video from both PS3 + Sky into the ONE DVI input? If I do this I can do away with the TV control

Re: To many remotes not enough inputs

Sky+ is an analogue signal, so would require some form of analogue -> digital conversion: read expense! Then you'd need a DVI switch as well.

Would a universal remote control work if it could "learn" the functions? I was under the impression that ANY signal could be replicated with a learning universal remote. Sure, there will be codes for standard equipment, but there's bound to be the oddball out there that'll need to be accomodated.

You should see my handsets:

TV
AV Amp
Sky
DVD #1
DVD #2
Scart Switch box
VCR

Although I have set up the AV handset to do all the others, there's only me who can remember which function key operates which function on each unit! Sometimes the KISS approach is the best!

Re: To many remotes not enough inputs

I'd agree, a learning remote would seem to be the best solution, I can well understand that one of the cheap 'universal' options that just has a database of pre-sets might not work but a learning remote should work just fine.

Do be aware if you want to try and replace all your remotes that the PS3 remote uses Bluetooth not IR so can't be easily controlled by a normal remote, even a learning one although there are some dongles around that can give you limited IR control.
