5m HDMI cable choice

I am looking for a 5m HDMI cable to run from AV receiver to LCD.

What recommendations do people have.

I have Sky HD, with 1080p inputs on their way soon.

unless your made of money i would never spend that much on a cable, i brought "cheap" ones of play.com and they work perfect. The build quality looks top aswell.

I'd try a cheap ebay £10 jobbie first. No point throwing away that amount of money when a £10 cable could be just as good.

I'm no expert on hdmi cables and i'm sure there are people out there that will tell you not to buy cheap cables.

Cheap short cables are fine, the longer they get the more sure you want to be that they have been made properly but that doesn't mean you have to pay over £100 for them.

Also be aware that Sky HD is 1080i not 1080P but that doesn't make a huge difference.

What you do need to be aware of is that SkyHD only passes stereo sound over HDMI so if you want 5.1 you will have to take an optical feed from the SkyHD box to your amp as well.

I have 2 shorter ones that work fine.

If the 5 mtr one works for you (i.e. you get a picture, with no sparklies or random garbage - and no reason to suggest you will errors like this) , then a more expensive cable cannot improve the PQ. If it doesn't work, then UKHDMI will refund your money. You have lost nothing.

Of course, if you want to spend 13x as much, then yes there is no doubt the ixos is a fine cable.
