PS3 remote and universal remote

Has anyone tried this device with a universal remote:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000R5H7KE

My idea is to buy the unit for the IR usb unit and plug this into the PS3. Then to use the remote itself to have my universal remote learn the IR controls (you can clearly see that the remote includes buttons for circle, square etc.). This surely is better than just buying an IR receiver unit and hoping to get lucky?

So then I could have PS3 functionality on a universal remote.

Re: PS3 remote and universal remote

Haven't tried that one, but have tried the Logic 3 one. It's difficult to get them to work, but some threads elsewhere on here will probably get you there in the end...

Anyone use a Harmony 555 with a PS3?

Re: PS3 remote and universal remote

I've had a root through some of the other threads. The problems seem to be in getting the codes recognised which is why I thought this system where you have a remote with the built in codes might be easier?

Well the Logic 3 is a remote, and so are some of the other devices. It's just that the signal is not recognised properly by the Harmony, because the PS3 remotes send two signals for some reason. A PS2 signal, and a PS3 signal or something like that.
