Re: Harmony 525

It can take a little time but once you get used to the web interface it's pretty straightforward.

The key thing is to plan out want you want to do in terms of activities, also make full of list of all the equipment (make and model) that you want to control.

I use mine to control my TV, V+ box, VCR, Xbox 360, HTPC, Projector, Surround Sound and Air Conditioning.

If you're lucky it will pick up the commands straight off, otherwise it can learn from existing remotes. I've even used a wireless keyboard to teach it Windows shortcuts for controlling my pc when switching between TV and projector and changing resolution.

Good luck and have fun.

Re: Harmony 525

I got one yesterday, and had no probs at all setting it up. Software seemed easy to use, and I have it controlling all my equipment below.

Re: Harmony 525

Its going well, got it controlling my TV and Xbox 360 lovelly. I'm still getting to grips with the user interface of the PC based software (I'm sure this could be better!) but I'm struggling with my JVC CD player and unfortunately it seems my freeview box is not listed but not to worry, getting Sky by the end of the week... still, I'll keep crackin'

Re: Harmony 525

I've just got mine today and have been setting up this evening.

One problem I have though is that it selects the wrong inputs on the TV when choosing an activity.

I have it set on "Watch DVD" and "Watch TV". The remote powers evrything up OK but it always chooses the wrong channels on the TV. I have my Sky box on Ext 1 but the remote chooses the PC input and my DVD on HDMI 1 but the remote chooses HDMI 2.

I have tried using the Help button to correct it but it just goes back to the wrong inputs if I choose another activity. I've also gone through the set-up on the PC about 4 times now and this still does not fix it.

Any Help

Always tricky to get these right, but you either have the timing wrong, the speed at which the TV is capable of switching inputs, or you have programmed the wrong number of inputs. 1 too many, or 1 too few.

The seating distance thing is quite annoying. Yeah it looks great from 20ft away.. so does my ex!!!. Grain is the best way to see that you are getting a good HD image. Use it to callibrate your equipment...

Well I know it's not the inputs as I only have my Sky and PS3 connected to the TV. Sky is on Ext 1 and the PS3 is on HDMI 1.

Going to try and adjust the timings, see if that helps at all.

Re: Harmony 525

If your having trouble, just contact customer support, they're fantastic. They'll call you back, usually around 8pm ish as they're calling from Canada.
They spent an hour on the phone to me setting my 525 up as it wouldn't switch the inputs properly.

Re: Harmony 525

Do these only work with a learning function? I ask because I bought a used TV that has no remote and was interested in a harmony anyway - could kill 2 birds with 1 stone!

No, they work by you entering what kit you have into their software, and it loads up the required keys onto the remote. You can test drive the software on the Harmony website http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/re...otes/&cl=us,en

I've had mine about a year, and it's very good indeed

Re: Harmony 525

I would draw a line diagram on what the remote needs to do and what it uses to achieve it then setup should be a quite straight forward - after 6 months I'm quite proficient.

Re: Harmony 525

I'm having trouble setting mine up that i got for christmas. The issue seems to be with the inputs again. I really need to find someone who has programmed one for use with a samsung tv. The problem i'm having is it wont switch to the to the digital tv tuner as you dont access that by pressing the source button on the original remote. I get to the TV input by just pressing the number of the channel i want to veiw but i change inputs by pressing the source button. Can somebody help me? I'm so confused

Re: Harmony 525

As i said before, ring customer support, they'll sort it out over the phone there and then,if it can't be done immediately they'll get their 2nd level support to work some program/settings out and download it to your 525.

Re: Harmony 525

i got one but still not used it as waiting to move back home.

isn't there loads of presets from the website that should have your make and model and put the right buttons where etc?

my last remote which was a cheapy, was crap at learning through the little infrared thing. i hope this is easier. i have 5 components to set up, tv, vcr, dvd recorder and dvd player and sky box and sony 5.1 surround system. hope it picks that up.

That's exactly where these Harmony remotes excel. Keep us posted on how you go. Kamal
