PAL calibration

I can use Avia to calibrate my projector, and set the black level etc, but of course that's for a different Ire level to PAL.

Anyone know of a test disk or a method to set black, contrast/brightness for PAL disks?

Most of my disks are R1 anyway, and I guess I could use a R2 THX disk, but the THX disks only really seem to work for the disk they are on, and don't appear to be universal.

TIA

Gary.

You can set the IRE for NTSC to 0 instead of 7.5 on many DVD players.

Failing that a THX test pattern on a region 2 disc or Referenz DVD test disc will help.

Oh dear.

Does this mean that I have wasted £40 on an AVIA disc to calibrate my HS10 for PAL? I only have about 5 R1 discs. Is there something I can do to use AVIA for PAL calibration? I am a novice where this is concerned so please be gentle

Sorry for the hi-jacking Gary.

Cheers

Rob

I've heard VE is producing a new 2 disc pack, with a NTSC and PAL disc.

I've just bought the NTSC Avia, as I only watch R1 DVD's, so I don't really care about setting up the PAL (except the PAL convergence)

"have I wasted my money?"

AVIA is more than just an NTSC picture set-up disc. It's stuffed with tutorials on picture AND audio plus has a whole host of audio set-up test tones too.

It's a good bit of kit, and if you take the tme to go through the help screens you can learn a lot from it.

Regards
