I don't like watching trailers as they spoil it for me.
Just want to ask what type of superhero is he?

Oh Gawd! :god:

This has "high concept" written all over it. Add to that the fact that it's a Will Smith vehicle and this one goes on my"avoid" list for 2008.

Good idea for a movie, but completely OTT. It should have been way more subtle with the whole idea.

You can never really judge a film from the trailer but i'd put that up there with batman begins on the radar.

Hmm. Saw the trailer the other day. Not quite sure what I thought of it to be honest:god:.

From that link:

On the other hand, there were rumors that Will Smith’s last film I Am Legend went through similar troubles, and that ultimately turned out pretty good.

When it ultimately does come out, I'll wait for the reviews and the AVF readers opinions.

Certainly don't want to waste the best part of a tenner if it's as bad as I am Legend:rotfl:

I saw Will Smith last week in his supersuit during the reshoots just off Times Sq. got a lovely blurred shot on my cameraphone :suicide:

There were rumours that they were having trouble getting the film classification that they wanted, so were doing reshoots to please the film board. Also that the advance screenings were not too good.

Looking forward to seeing this eitherway!

Two Will Smith re-shoots puts me in a tizz of Columbo-ism. Working out how Will Smith ties in to the two situations. And my favourite conspiracy theory is that Will Smith had a phallic tattoo that had to be covered up in I Am Legend, and when this was discovered it had to also be covered up in Hancock.

Tonally schizophrenic and there's probably a critically acclaimed piece in there somewhere.

But, and this is my barometer of films nowadays, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Laughed, sniffled a bit, felt for the characters.

Good film.

Saw this film yesterday
ignore all the reviews caus this film is awesome. It is split into two parts , the first 3 quarters is hilarious ;the last climatic quarter is very dramatic. Will smith is fantastic as is jason bateman. Its a far better film than id thought it would be- in my opinion probably the best summer blockbuster so far this year apart from iron man.Bring on hancock 2.

Saw this on Wednesday...

...the trailers give you a general feel for what most of the film will be like.. but then there are certain things that happen in the 3rd act which you dont expect which makes it darker than your average Will Smith film.. (which makes a change).

Was also surprised at the 12A rating, fair amount of swearing in it and a bit blood, so may not be suitable for the very young ones. :)

I for one enjoyed it, Will Smith is such a naturally likeable person that i was sure i would, there's a few good surprises in the plot however there was just something that didnt flow in the whole film probably due to it's script completely changing from it's origins once Will Smith was on board.

a solid 7/10 from me.

Haven't seen this yet but the premise reminds me of a book I read a long time ago which was made into a movie called "The return of Captain Vincible" iirc the movie had Christopher Lee as the villain and oh yeah it was an Australian musical!!!

Just got back from seeing this and I really enjoyed it.

I don't think it deserves some of the bad reviews thrown at it by some people.

I think some people take movies far too seriously these days and always expect a deeply involving storyline.

This is an action movie about a dead beat super hero played by Will Smith so you should know what to expect.

Leave your brain at home, go and enjoy it for what it is and don't go in looking for things to critisise.

It's way over the top, a proper CGI fest, but it does what it sets out to do, entertain and amuse.

Overall I enjoyed it too.

However I'd really love to know what the original ending was.

Apparently the original ending didn't go down well so was reshot. I've put a spoiler alert although I don't think its a spoiler as this could apply to any film but best to, so its here Possibly somebody dies?

Reading reviews before I saw it they suggested a good first half and that the film suddenly jumped into the new ending and was poorly joined but Personally I didn't notice what may have been changed with the exception of what I mentioned above.

i just got back from seeing this. Thought it was really good, great comedy moments and a gripping finale, but what got me was that a lot of reviews i've seen have panned one scene in particular where Hancock brings a girl back to his trailer and proceeds to super:censored: her culminating with her flying across the room and several holes appearing in the roof from the "super ejaculate" but this scene was not in the film at all, also the bit in the trailer where you see him getting off the prison bus was not in the film either.

Hoping there will be an "unrated" blu ray of it at some point with those scenes back in, and perhaps some of the violence happening on camera.. spoiler> like actually seeing the guy getting his hand(s) cut off

saw this earlier wih the wife and we both loved it. great mix of action, comedy and sentiment. some laugh out loud moments and the actors were all very good, especially the ever reliable will smith. bateman and theron were also good. this was more entertaining than the hulk and on par with iron man. roll on the dark knight  8/10

Saw this last night & it was a pleasant surprise. I went into it thinking I'd seen the whole film in the trailer as usual, but oh no ;). I storyline definitely took me by surprise, which is a rarity in films these days. Although the source material was even darker, there was at least some of that depth to this realisation of Hancock, albeit somewhat toned down. I do think a lot has been cut though...roll on a blu-ray extended edition. 8/10 :smashin:

Went to see this with a mate last night

Lets just say he wasn't complementary in his review of the film, yet he laughed at all the jokes and I maintain he was entertained. He would have preferred to see 'Wanted' instead! A pleasant surprise for me. And Theron being in it helped ;)

Saw this on tuesday evening, thought the first half was great and very, very funny but the second half just seemed a bit random and I couldn't put my finger on what was wrong! Maybe because there didn't seem to be much of a storyline at the beginning then it all happened in the last part, I don't know  Not saying I didn't enjoy the second half though, still entertaining :)

I will probably enjoy it more when the unrated version comes out with alternate ending, I would give it 6.5/10 :)

I went to watch it last night and thought it was great - yes the last third did change the flow of the movie completly and they could have done it differently and with more depth but I thought it worked well and wasnt the the complete clusterfup that everyone has been saying

A solid laugh out loud movie with a hot Theron in it gets a solid 8 from me (oh and apparently there were some other actors in the movie as well but quite frankly who cares.)

I saw this last night and thought it was very average (except for the above mentioned charlize Theron who looked amazing).
What i don't like about most action movies these days is the slack endings. I know the ending to this was supposedly changed but it still stank. It seems like there is a rush to get the film finished and the endings really suffer (same thing happened in Iron Man and many other recent blockbusters). IMO it spoils the whole film. I just wish they would put more thought into the way these films finish and make the overall product much better.

First half when he was drunk and insulting people was funny and I really enjoyed a new take on the whole superhero movie but the last half was weak. Felt like they ran out of ideas so ended up being a little odd for me.

Warrants the 3 star reviews its been getting imo.

Saw it today and like most others here, I really enjoyed it. Its weird how the press had so often said it wasnt any good but for me it was one of the cinema highlights of the year so far.
I would even say I enjoyed it more than Ironman overall.
A bit too sweary in parts and got a bit worried that it may descend into a lazy last half hour or so but it neednt have worried.
Liked the ending very much and the comedy moments were brill.
The scene where he was sitting at the dining table describing how to deal with a bully was just hilarious.

"Too sweary"? I love the cursing in this flick. Reminds of the good ol' days when people still swore in 'family' films.
