TV background hiss

This seems such a simple problem. How do I tune the TV so that there is no background hiss from it.
Ive a Humax 9200 (which is great) but I find I have to have the TV sound quite high so that the PVR volume can be high enough (particularly for Film 4).

Re: TV background hiss

Hi

How have you got the Humax connected to the TV to view it?

Scart, RF etc.

Have you turned up the sound volume with the PVR9200 remote first? (turning up the TV with the PVR9200 turned down will exhibit a hiss).

Are you connecting the PVR to the TV with a scart cable or only with the RF (aerial) lead ? (Using the scart to an AV input on the TV, the TV will not need tuning to remove hiss.

You could optionally connect one of the audio outputs from the PVR9200 (it has digital optical or RCA red/white phono sockets) to a spare input on a music system / amplifier and listen via stereo speakers.

Re: TV background hiss

Yes everything is properly connected - PVR to TV via scart.
I have the remote on near full volume and the tv then turned up.
But, for instance, when muting it - the tv hiss can easily be heard.
I did not have this problem with my freeview box and cant remember having to switch tv channels on that.
What tv channel and other settings should i be on?
