Remote settings

I used to have a Sky + box downstairs and a standard sky box (under the multiroom contract) upstairs. I have recently had Sky HD installed downstairs and the sky + box moved upstairs.

Historically I would sometimes find that the upstairs box had changed channels, usually during the day to a childrens channel (which we don't watch) or sometimes over night to one of the news channels.

Since the Sky + box has gone in upstairs we have also seen recordings being deleted (not all of them but some).

Although I can't see how, as I thought they worked on line of site, I can only assume that we are picking up remote signals from a neighbours controller (neighbours both sides have sky and have children).

Has anyone else had this problem. Is their a way to change the remote 'frequency' if it is conflicting with another nearby unit?

Any advice gratefully received

Thanks

Unlikely.
Infrared remotes can't "see" through walls.

Jaycee

Yes, I thought it was unlikely as well but I can't think of a better explanation at this point....

Anyone got any ideas?

Intermittent Stuck-down button on the remote or the box.
Faulty Sky+ box.

Re: Remote settings

Again, I would have made the same assumption except that the original sky box did this in this location and now the sky + box does it in the same location. The sky + box did not do this when it was downstairs.

The box is different, the remote is different, only the location is the same

In that case it's possible one of your neighbours has a "Powermid" or similar remote extender...either that or one of them has a clear line-of-sight to the front of the box.

Re: Remote settings

Thanks JayCee. Perhaps I'm not going mad. I suspect it must be something like this Powermid rather than line of sight.

So, it brings me back to my original question... does anyone know of a way to change the 'frequency' setting for a Sky + remote to avoid a conflict with another?

It isn't possible I'm afraid.

Re: Remote settings

That's a shame. Oh Well, perhaps I'll try moving the box or trying to shield it somehow.

Thanks for your advice
