Lose some of picture on Panny Sky box

Hi

I have a panasonic Sky box that when I put it into the RGB output, the picture shifts to the left alittle and I lose part of the left hand side. Put it to PAL and it is OK.

I have a Toshiba 32 widscreen 100hx scan 32WB98D if that helps.

Anyone else had this and how do i cure it.

This is normal. Some TV sets are incompatible with Sky Digiboxes. A good reason for insisting on a demonstration before you pay money for a new TV set!

A few TV sets do have a switch or adjustment for the RGB shift, but not many. Ask the manufacturer if there is a fix for this problem.

I thought the RGB left shift problem was an issue with the internal setup of the TV and would always be a factor regardless of if the RGB source was from a digibox or other device?

My past experience is as Starburst mentions, years ago I had a CRT that displayed all RGB sources shifted to the left (games consoles, Amiga computer, Sky analogue, etc.). I had another CRT, where RGB's brightness on all sources was way low too.

Poor show from manufacturers.

I will either get used to it (it Will niggle thta i have lost a bit of picture) or replace the bugger with a plasma if i get any bonus this year...

Bugger, i expected more from Toshiba!

Get yourself a service manual, the RGB left ship should be adjustable from within the "hidden" menus that are used by the engineers for diagnostics etc.
Ask in the TV forums, should get plenty of guideance in there.

The problem arises because plasma screens are prone to burn in, as one Currys customer found to his cost. His children watched CBeebies every day for a few hours. A few months after buying his expensive TV, every channel and video he watched had a CBeebies logo.

Some doubts in my mind that it was a plasma display, one report stated he bought a Samsung w/s TV dvd/vcr package with extended warranty for £2000 last August. It certainly wouldn't have been a plasma screen for that price last year, infact you would be hard pressed to pay that right now.

It seemed too cheap to me but it has been widely reported and "plasma" appears in all the reports I saw (which doesn't mean it's right!)
