Sub keeps dropping out? Standby mode

Hi all I have an old Celestion CSw Mk2 sub and Yammy V657 amp.

I've set the sub, through all the auto procedure, and such. I had to manually over ride the settings it gave me as it set my speakers to large and the crossover to 40. So I set the speakers to small upped the crossover to 80, and made sure the LFE was set to sub.

The only switch on the sub, is on or off, but its always going into standby mode mid film, after a long dialouge stint, and I have to wake it up byt pulling the phono and popping back in.

I've upped the level on the amp, and dropped the master on the sub, to try and trick it this way but that has little effect? Any other ideas?
Cheers guys

I don't understand how it drops out at all, seeing as it's constantly on

I suspect it's just too low volume though.

Try to see if it does it at louder volume.

You may have to split the input into the amp. I believe I have seen some posts on this forum about having to do it, and somebody who bought my sub-sat from me had to do the same for that sub - funny enough - that was a yamaha amp he had as well

Re: Sub keeps dropping out? Standby mode

Ok last one about this sub. Tried everything with it, levels on the amp at max, split the phono and still it drops out. It actually dropped out during the beach scene in blow where theres plenty of bass there.

I borrowed a passive sub and amp from work too the other day and ran this without problems for a whole film, and loads of music.

I even left my sub on test tone and it dropped out after 15 mins or so and then kicked it self back in.

So there is definitley something not right with the sub, so looking for a new sub now unless anyone can think of anything else it could be? Its maybe as though it thinks its overheating and cuts itself out?

Cheers
