Transfering from Ipod

I apologise if this has been asked many times but i've searched and can't seem to find the answer i'm looking for.

Basically my 4th gen ipod has started dying regularly and then returning to life a few days later for no apparent reason. I finally got a bit sick of this (and the battery that doesn't hold a decent charge) and bought a Sony NWZA818.

I also got as bit fed up of my laptop getting so slow so i deleted the itunes library. Therefoer the only copies are on the ipod. Now i'd like to ransfer all the podcasts and music from my ipod to the Sony.

In short - is there a way to do this?

Re: Transfering from Ipod

You need to reinstall iTunes and set the iPod to disk mode.
All purchased music will then be synced back.

Potentially there are third party open source tools who will do the trick, too.

Re: Transfering from Ipod

There's a good third party tool called Music Rescue.

Or there is the free way - with the iPod mounted as a drive on the PC, drag the Music folder from the iTunes_Control (might be iPod_Control - can't remember) on it onto your PC, and then drag and drop that folder into iTunes with iTunes set to reorganise your music library.
