Speaker docks for non Ipods?

Is it possible to get speaker docks that work with other mp3 players than Ipods?

Having decided I want an MP3 I was thinking of the Sony ZA818 as it seems to be the best for sound quality. I would however like to be able to use it with external speakers/dock or connect to hifi.

Most of the options for this all seem to be aimed at Ipods rather than any MP3 player.

On the other hand just how much better is the Sony compared to say the Ipod Classic in reality?
I have imported CDs into iTunes in Apple Lossless format.

Either way I will probably get some better headphones.

I'm sure most, if not all, docks have a 3.5mm jack input [and maybe come with the lead too] so you can connect from the headphone out on any mp3 player into the dock. Of course, this means that you can't charge your player through the dock and any player will just sit at the side of the dock instead of fitting neatly into a designed space. For instance, I have one of these http://accessories.euro.dell.com/sna...186&lid=121454 for my Zen and my kids use it for their Nanos all the time cos the sound's just so good.

Thanks.
Didn't realise I could use the headphone socket on them.
So presumably, if I got a 3.5mm jack to twin phono I could just connect the mp3 player to the inputs on a normal hifi amp?

Absolutely. That's exactly what I do in the living room...I have a phono > 3.5mm jack lead connected to an AUX input on my amp and just connect my mp3 player to it when I want. Just make sure the volume is turned up high [full] on the player and then adjust accordingly from the HiFi volume control.

Re: Speaker docks for non Ipods?

One of the problems with the Sony MP3 players is the lack of accessories, but the Sony dock is one of the best I have come across:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-CPF-NW0...7820276&sr=8-4

I picked one up for under £40 from Amazon last month, so it may come down in price again.

It has it's own dedicated subwoofer built into the power supply, so is not totally portable, but sounds good for something so small.

Thank you for the replies.
If I go for the Sony think I will just get the lead and connect to hifi then.
Found these here which I assume as they are QED are going to be good?
