Good price for a quad lnb and two cables ?

Have a Sky dish installed and one digibox being used with an ftv card, I want to get a few more ftv boxes setup so I fancy getting a quad lnb installed and have two extra points installed as well.

I've been quoted £178 by a reputable local business to have a quad lnb installed with two points in the house, do you all think that's an acceptable price ? (I think I'm happy with it ?).

Thanks.

Have you not thought about doing it yourself. £10 on ebay for quad LNB and £17 for 100 metres of satellite cable from Screwfix. Really easy to do yourself.

You know I never did !.

I've cabled up plenty of cat5 runs over the years but never coax but it can't be impossible ?.

The only thing that worries me is properly aligning the lnb, but I suppose there are tools for that ?.

Re: Good price for a quad lnb and two cables ?

lnb just pulls out of dish and quad replaces it should be a plastic clip that holds it in that you have to remove then put back after swapping them over. dish shouldnt need adjusting at all just make sure you put the f types onto the cable properly. £178 sounds a bit steep to me, i would charge about £110 for parts and installation assuming there is nothing unusual with the way the cables need running (the trade price for a sky approved quad lnb is £27.81 so a tenner on ebay is very cheap, probably fallen out the back of a sky van somewhere)

Re: Good price for a quad lnb and two cables ?

Well, just bought a £10 quad lnb off of fleaBay.

Now the cable, which I'm happy to buy from Screwfix, can anyoen tell me what type/rating I need and connectors ?. Are they just called 'F' connectors and do I need to buy any tools to fit them to the cable ?.

Thanks

Yes, that is the stuff I used. Good price at the moment. F type connectors are easy to fit, no tools involved. See:
