Heads up on Acurus amps

Just thought i'd mention the US Acurus brand and my experience on here-

I bought the Acurus A150 poweramp and RL11 remote pre-amp from richer sounds several years ago, apparently they only imported them for about a year, i'm really glad i got the combo when i did...

They retailed at £700 per unit and got good reviews described as "american muscle" and "budgit hi-end", very well made, and sound excellent, a lot of people have said their amps do a lot of what Bryson and Krell do for much less money.

Anyway, the main point i wanted to make was that the Acurus gear can be had dirt cheap now, there mostly found on sale in the US, you can expect to pay a bit in shipping and customs but well worth it.

I just picked up a second A150 power amp for about 350USD, and this was more than i should have paid really, but i offered the guy i bit more to hold it a week for me.

So now i have a the Ruark accolades bi-amped and its a really excellent setup, superb bass, natural clear mids, great sound staging, only thing you have to watch speaker matching, treble can be slightly forward or harsh even-

i doubt i'll change the amps for a long time to come, so if anyones looking for amps that perform way beyond their pricetag Acurus are it !

Any sales MUST be placed in the Classifieds.

Yeah, they are all part of mondial designs i think.

I might be interested depending on which model the amps the are.

Re: Heads up on Acurus amps

Acurus made some terrific sounding amps. I had their 5 channel amp (125x5) and still regret selling to this day.

When Klipsch purchased Mondial and discontinued the Acurus line, they ported over the Acurus architecture into the Aragon 7 channel amps which sound terrific as well.

Still toying with the idea of picking up another Acurus. Highly recommend.

Re: Heads up on Acurus amps

Another thing worth mentioning is they also have a voltage selector, although the newer ones seem to have lost the voltage markings- trying to force you to use a dealer i expect.

I was able to copy the selector position from the older amp i have and run the US A150 at 230v , i would think the whole range of Acurus gear is the same in this regard.
