I saw Ang Lee's "Lust, Caution" tonight, with a satellite Q&A (to all the PictureHouse cinemas across the UK) with director Ang Lee. He described it as his most "personal" film, and it's not hard to see why. Very powerful, and it was depressing to find a cinema less than a tenth full, given the international plaudits the film has had.
I put this up there with the Coen Brothers' "No Country for Old Men" as one of the highlights of the last 12 months.
I seem to recall the film had been ruled out of this year's "Best Foreign Language Film" nominations for the oscars, allegedly because it contained English (a few sentences is all!) Is this true? If so it's unbelievable.
Anyway, it's well worth catching if you're a fan of Lee's previous films, and are happy to have a very unconventional ending (Hollywood would have had a rather different ending!)
