Mounting on breezeblock
I want to mount a Sony 32inch lcd - weight 15kg - onto a Vogels VFW332 (4 kg) with the whole caboodle hanging on breezeblock. The Vogels comes with some fairly substantial screws & plugs but the other side of the wall is a shower so I can't afford to make any mistakes in mounting this on the wall.
I've read people's comments about using anchor bolts which wouldn't be possible here so does any one have any advice. I have successfully mounted a Philips 14inch TV with a Video Recorder on an Ikea wall bracket in another room without mishap so am I just being overcautious? ![]() Thanks |

Re: Mounting on breezeblock
Hi there - was doing an identical project this week. Hanging 32" panasonic onto a plasterboard/breeze block arrangement - no stud wall, just a quarter of inch gap between plasterboard and breeze block.
Wall mount (tilt and swivel cantilever arm arrangement) came with 6 large rawl plugs and I bought 2 more. I drilled 8 12mm hole and tapped the rawl plugs in, and then used the 6 10mm lag bolts and another 2 bought to screw the mount in - not to hard though as if you do it too tight as you'll start crumbling the breeze block away ![]() Mine seems to be pretty solid, but my major concern that that having gone to the trouble of making sure the mount is solid to hold the TV on, that in reality the TV is held onto the mount via 4 piddly little screws that barely go into the TV - does this seem right - I guess it is, but should the mount hook underneath the TV or is it purely the 4 screws I need? ![]() |

Re: Mounting on breezeblock
4 years ago I mounted a 37" Philips lCD on a swinging arm Vogel Bracket.
Used the bolts that came with the bracket. They were not Rawlplug expanding type. The wall is plaster over breeze block. Last year I changed the set-now a 46" X series Sony. The set is secure and appears very solid. No sleepless nights worrying about it falling away. |

I had the crumbling breezeblock syndrome a few years ago when I hung some shelves but as you say the secret seems to be not to tighten too tight. After comparing the weight of the LCD with that of my plasma, I'm not too worried about the bracket that the TV itself mounts on. Granted that the 4 bolts are fairly small but I'm sure that behind the outer casing things must be fairly beefed up or else there would be a mayriad of stories of TVs ending up on the floor ![]() |
