EP 35 multiregion oddness

I've had my Tosh EP35 for a few days and I'm quite happy. I didn't think the HD version of Bourne Supremacy was much better than the SD version but 300 seemed a lot better.

Anyway, this morning I started experimenting with some of my non-region 2 disks. I first tried my Band of Brothers box set which is region 4. I hoped it would work as some region 4 stuff is also coded region 2. I was pleased when it did in fact play.

Then I tried my region 3 copy of Schindler's List and was surprised to find it played too. I was starting to hope that somehow I had ended up with a multiregion EP 35 so I tried another region 3 title, "Das Boot" but that didn't play. I tried several region 1 titles and they didn't play either. I'm just wondering why my r3 Schindler's List would play but the r3 Das Boot wouldn't?

Re: EP 35 multiregion oddness

Probably because the region is not set as pure R3, but may include R2, and R0 coding as well on the disc, just like the R2 / R4 discs. Quite common.
