Just bought one of these to replace my stolen stereo.

http://www.empiredirect.co.uk/productdetailsnew.asp?modelcode=SON-CDXMP30

Thought it was a pretty good price, as it has MP3 playback, as well as loads of other features.

Does anybody know if I will need an adaptor to fit it into a Vauxhall Cavalier?

Thanks

Assuming that the car still has the factory plugs all you need to is get the radio power loom you will notice bullet type connectors in the red and yellow wires seperate them then cross them over connecting the red to the yellow and the yellow to the red this is because VX do not follow the ISO standard to the book and the memory and ignition wires are in opposite positions.
You will need the aerial adapter that is supplied in the box, you may need some heavy tape to keep the aerial in the back of the radio.
A few more tips, the aerial wire is run with the main power loom you will find it difficult to organise the loom cut the harness open and release the arial wire for about 6" making sure you don't cut any wires and secondly when feeding the radio into the hole you need to make sure that the wiring drops down in the back of the dash as one of the heater cables is directly behind and if the cable is jammed and you attempt to alter the control it kinks the cable you then have to remove the clocks, steering wheel and heater controls to put it right this will put and an extra 2 hours on the job even if you know what you are doing.

Oh by the way, its a nice set!

Thanks a lot for all the info.

I think that makes sense, I will see when it's delivered tomorrow.

Once again thanks.

Yeah, I get on really well with it.

The MP3 playback is fine, and you can fit about 13 - 15 albums on one CD. You can basically use it as a multi-changer, and skip through the albums and tracks.

The standard CD playback is also very good.

And it was very easy to fit, even for me!!!!

Well worth the money.

Cool, thats what I was 100% going for, until I started getting links from US sites off my friend out there saying 'i'll get you this and send it over, just send me the funds' and then I started looking again, and seen some beauties, just need to sell a kidney to increase my budget!!
