Motherboard Help Please...........

I have decided to buy the E2180 and overclock it to 3ghz, im on a budget so dont want to spend more than £60 on a motherboard, it needs to hold 8gb ram (pc2 6400) good for overclocking, maybe Asus? and be quad core compatible for future upgrades, i have never bought a new motherboard before, so i dont know whats best, can someone please help? and pci express 16x.

Thanks to anyone who helps

OMG please tell me you aren't skimping on what is in effect the core of your PC. Sorry mate but quality counts, especially when overclocking and future upgrades. Is it quality ram you are getting? 4 GB is more than enough even for vista, saving you money to buy a decet cpu and mobo.
O/c 'ing a 2.0ghz chip to 3.0 is some overclock and will need a quality mobo(and far better than 6400 ram) to handle it.
had a few mobo and Asus whilst being excellent , have not been up to par of late.
Here's what I use and cannot recomend them enough

http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=491417 quad core, 1333hz compatable, pci express and sli. Not forgetting stable as a rock.

Yes they are pricier but for the clock speeds you are hoping for, you need good quality components. Incidently, my E6600 duo clocks to 3.4 no problem, no voltage tweakery required. Abit mobo also deserve a mention in o/c, my old P4 3.0 has been running at 3.6 for 18months on one. Trust me you won't get that high a clock on an Asus.

Re: Motherboard Help Please...........

so your ok with the E2160? an E2160 can overclock 100%(not risking it), ive done alot of research, and it will outperform the CPU you recommended me, ive seen the benchmarking, you just think i should spend more on the motherboard? the thing is, its a budget pc, do you know of any good budget motherboards? also im getting an X1950pro 512mb, and 2gb of ram. do good budget motherboards exist?

Many sites claim these ridiculous speeds, try putting them into practice. Good luck trying to get a budget mobo that will allow o/c never mind such world record ones.

got good reviews etc, and looks to be a good overclocker.
Im not trying to build the most powerful PC on the planet, full time collage students dont have that much to spend when i have more money i will get quad core, nvidia 8800 etc.
