Yeah, hence my post. I know that the season 1 box set didn't have an extras in it. The individual disks that have been released did/do have extras especially the earlier ones. These earlier disks were a bit pick and mix though so its plaudits to the publisher for fiilling out the gaps. I reserve final comment in case they come out with the 'collectors editions' with all the goodies on them). SG-1 seems to have a fairly solid fan base so the temptation may be there...
I have found the website to be pretty much up to snuff on release dates etc so I am still in two minds (yes I am as well....).

I've just bought the season 1 box set and was going to leave season 2 onwards in thier single disc form seeing as I have all 25 volumes.
but now....:(

we missed some of the earlier individual disks and just kinda kept an eye on the shelves in case any turned up. the box set will fill out our collection nicely. its the getting rid of the VHS copies that grieves me especially when I think of what they cost.. there is a young fan a few doors down the street who will love them though so they will find a good home.
SG-1 individual disks were good value especially compared to other 'tv' disks. more episodes, extras and a good price (if you kept your eyes open). Of course this is relative to the 'market level' which as we all know is far too high - but lets not go there..
I am stil in two minds about the season 2 box set though...(well maybe not..)...am.....not...am...arrghh...zzzt overload...zzzt...overload...

what season are we up to now? I watched one on Sky One last year before ITV digital went T**ts up. I'm about to get Sky Digital next week - is the new series already started?
If so, I might wait until they are available on DVD so need to know the season number and when it might be out?

We're about four episodes from then end of season six.
Seasons 1-5 are available on DVD. Seasons 1-5 in box set form (at £40 for Season 1 and £46 for Seasons 2-5 from play) and Seasons 2-5 as individual 4 eps per disc (with the last disc of a series containging only 2 at £15 ish each

Hi,
I was one of the sensible (?) few who decided to wait until MGM released all of Season 1, before considering paying out for "Stargate SG-1" on DVD.
However, I notice a really annoying thing on the R2 boxed sets.
For the Season 1 set, it contains Season 1, volumes 1-6. Then for Season 2, all they've done is repackage the original releases into a cardboard box, without bothering to relabel the pacakaging. Hence the Season 2 box set comes with "Volumes 2-6"!
Duh!
It would have made far more sense, if they had relabelled the discs as "Season 2, Volumes 1-5", because otherwise it messes up the running order of the discs. (Volume 1, in the original release, contained the Pilot Epiosde, and the final three episodes of Season 1.) But I guess MGM are just cheap-asses, huh?!
This is going to annoy a lot of people! Why can't companies just do things right the first time?!

Yep - your are right about the numbering/labelling. But then they couldn't give the season 1 box set minus numbers could they. Its good news that they have gone back to the original numbering for season 2.
They could have labelled the season 1 box set something like
1-1
1-2
1-3.....
though.

Just got the series 2 box set and I was a bit naffed off when I saw that it was just the old versions repackaged in a new bit of cardboard.
I thought the quality on the first episode wasn't up the the quality of the first boxed set too

Saw the R1 version of this box set today and it's not just a reboxed set of single disks. It has some extras and stuff on it as well instead of just a couple of season 1 episodes.
Might have to trade up :)

Don't go there !!!
Trading up talk is cheap but trading up (special/new/better) releases is a bane.
When the vendors have milked the market and sold half a dozen versions of their software the format change will come.
